Transpharmation has a suite of automated behavioural ‘home cage’ behavioural testing platforms for rapid and long term behavioural screening of small molecules, neuropeptides and antibodies in rodents (rats and mice).
We routinely use the LABORAS system which we helped our partner Metris develop in the late 1990s whilst within the SmithKline Beecham organisation.
This system has proved invaluable for objectively screening animals on multiple behavioural endpoints following drug administration systemically and directly into the Central Nervous System.
The measurement of behaviour in the animals’ home cage with free access to food and water, allows robust data collection for pharmacodynamics endpoints. The ability to acquire data from animals 24/7 for weeks at a time in a light controlled environment, allows for the assessment of circadian activity.
